In 2022, there were 11 reported healthcare data breaches of more than 1 million patient medical records and a further 14 data breaches of over 500,000 patient medical records. Most of those breaches were hacking incidents, many of which involved ransomware or attempted extortion through the dark web.
Millions of people use the dark web every day. It is an extension of the deep web, operating on encrypted internet connections. It makes online activity anonymous and can only be accessed with a dark web browser. The dark web isn’t just accessed by a number of people. 2 million users connect to the dark web every day.
There are ways in which you can protect yourself from the dark web, some of which include dark web monitoring, cybersecurity insurance, security awareness training, practice system engagement, backing up important systems and files, and Multi-Factor Authentication. Of course, like many things, there are pros and cons of the dark web and in this session, I intend to educate you just that and how to protect your practice from it.

PRESENTER BIO
